GFR offers solutions for controlling expenses by controlling energy consumption. The primary control points in commercial kitchen energy consumption are starting place at reducing energy expenses.

Through proper analysis of one's current energy situation it becomes evident where the user can save money.  Many times the user can invest to save money at multiple control points. These control points are not mutually exclusive but inclusive of one another. In other words, each point is not independent but can be interdependent on one another. Ventilation depends on cooking wares and method of production, refrigeration can be affected by warmth diffusion from cooking equipment and waste can be dictated by poor refrigeration and cooking equipment. GFR seeks to assist kitchens to not only increase its greening but increase its return on investment.

Pitco’s newest series of fryers, the “Solstice Supreme”, is a major breakthrough in fryer design and efficiency. Pitco’s engineers have designed a system that has the highest gas efficiency rating, combined with the lowest cost of ownership in the industry. The new design has little to no moving parts and a self cleaning burner.

The new architecture eliminates all of the failure prone moving parts found in old technology fryers. Without moving parts, fragile ceramic burners to crack or blowers to clean less maintenance is required. Pitco’s new burner and baffle squeeze more heat out of your dollar by causing a “scrubbing action” of the flame. This self cleaning system ensures that the burners stay clean and efficient every time the system is used.  This new baffle becomes radiant much faster, leading to quicker recovery times and higher cooking efficiency, while still maintaining its high efficient combustion.

The Solstice Supreme’s new architecture gives it an advantage over other fryers. The new technology combined with self cleaning burners means that the fryer will maintain a 70% thermal efficiency throughout its lifetime. Thermal Efficiency is the percentage of energy available to cook food. A 100,000 btu burner at 70% TE provides 70,000 btu of energy to cook food. The competition runs at about 42%-57% thermal efficiency, far below the new Solstice Supreme standard.

The Solstice Supreme is ENERGY STAR certified and is eligible for $1,000 rebate in Oregon from the Energy Trust of Oregon. Click HERE for a copy of the rebate application form.

The TruFlow Energy Management Controller is designed to provide the most energy efficient kitchen available. TruFlow automatically adjusts the exhaust volume to match the amount of heat and smoke rising from the cooking appliances. Modulating the exhaust to match the rate of cooking reduces the exhaust and supply air that must be heated or cooled. There could be energy savings as high as 50% of your annual fresh air heating and cooling bill. Payback is typically 1 to 2 years. TruFlow can be retrofitted on your existing commercial kitchen or provided with your new kitchen exhaust system.
